January in a nut shell

January isn't my favorite month. This January is really not up there with my favorites either. The weather has been blah, it seems all I have done is work, work, work and there isn't much fun to write about. BUT, I must stay with my goal to do this so here goes....

The highlight of our month probably happened on the very first day of the month...
Well, I can't get the pictures to load where I want them so at least they are there. If you didn't guess, the highlight of the month was sledding on New Year's Day. If you know my dad you know he has a TON of lawn and know that he is a little particular about his lawn so imagine our suprise when he told us to drive over the lawn instead of the horse pasture with the new Christmas four wheeler! I guess he could see in our faces the slight cringe the frozen horse turds were causing because there was only about 3-4 inches of snow. The lawn was MUCH better on the old behind! I couldn't get enough of the sledding. They all said I was the champion because I never did fall off even when Shawna took me over a big jump. In the end the fun ended because we were all frozen--almost literally I mean heck it was only like 5 degrees and after about 1.5 hours that temperature kinda gets to you. Thanks for the fun, family! You made the highlight of my month!

It's a love-hate relationship!

I really love blogging and I really love to search each of your blogs. I really love to! I do it every time I get a chance, which lately has only been about once every week or two, but I do. BUT this here blog makes me cry! Seriously I cry everytime I come here to get to yours. I hate that I don't get all the cute things that happen in my life here on the blog like most of you do. It makes me hate myself for wanting to but not doing it! I will get better....someday but for now I'm just going to take little nibbles of this HUGE elephant. I am going to try to post a last Sunday of the month post the ...well the last Sunday of the month, each month. I'm not promising but I'm trying. I guess with all the other things I have going on in my life I really should give myself a break I mean, I do have a CRAZY life. Just like all of you but I don't BLOG and I hate that about myself. Wow, I feel like I'm at an AA meeting or something. Hey, the last Sunday of the month is this week. Stay tuned!! It may just happen. Maybe? Or not?

No, I'm not dead!

I am so NOT good at new schedules, new routines and new school years, so be patient with me. I have a big "Summer in Review" post planned to show all of our fun, fun, fun summer activities. I will get to it soon-probably this weekend?

Hey, YOU! Leave a comment!

Now that I have this here little tracker thing, I know when you visit but don't leave a comment!!! Talk about a stab to my little ego! Tell me "hi" when you visit, I wouldn't come to your house and ring the door bell and walk away! I love to hear from you. It's a lonely world some days, this staying home thing. Thanks for your comments, I'll do the same when I visit or stalk your blog okay? Is it a deal?

Lagoon makes me smile!

What is it about Lagoon that just makes most everyone smile? A few weeks ago we had maybe the BEST day at Lagoon ever and my friend, (Thanks, Johanna!) just inspired me to finally get this post up about it. We met my family there minus Gary and Kate's family, who were in Disneyland and Scott and Lydia, who had to work. We had a fabulous day! The weather was absolutely PERFECT! Not too cold, not too hot. We had great company and great food! What more could we ask for? The favorite ride of the day was Odessy. Even Grandpa loved it! I think the funniest thing I have seen in a long time was when my sister and her husband were on it and he didn't know that you could control the up and down movement. Right when they would get to the water spouts she would lower or higher it so that he would get soaked EVERY time! It was HILAROUS!!! I thought my dad was going to fall off the bench laughing so hard. It was a great day had by ALL! Thanks, Dad and Shawna! They are the best!

Project Life!

I've been meaning to blog about this for a long time but never make it a priority, I guess. This is a scrapbook project that I have been working on this year. Let me explain a bit about it but just keep reading before you freak out at the first... I take one picture every day of the year and journal the little card every day. Now at first I was like, "yeah right, a picture every single day, I can't do that." but 7 months into it I can tell you that I LOVE IT!!!! I got the idea from my favorite scrapbook Hero, Goddess, Idol, Becky Higgins. Can I just tell you that I love her? I have not ever met her in person, much to my disapointment, but I could tell you just about anything you would like to know about her life from the past say 10 or 12 years that I have been following her. It's kind of a creepy, stalking, obsessive relationship I have secretly with her. I have always said that if I could ever meet her then I may as well go ahead and die because that's all I need to complete my life. Okay that may be a little over board but I would truely be complete if I could just spend an afternoon with her. I have even talked about moving to Arizona to maybe run into her say at the grocery store or something! This woman is AWESOME! She is near perfect in my eyes that's for sure! Anyway back to Project Life.... well, what else do I tell you about it? You buy it through Amazon and contect through my website to hers, on the right. I don't think I can do Project Life justice so just go to her website and check it out. It has changed my life. I don't feel so overwhelmed in the scrapbook department anymore because it's just one picture, one little journal card a day. It has become my Sunday afternoon project to work on it. I even bore my testimony in church about this wonderful project. I have loved looking back over the year so far to remember the little things that I never scrapped about before. Some days I don't have anything big to write about but that's what I love about it, you get all the details, the real stuff life's about with this little beauty. No I am not getting paid for advertising from Becky Higgins but I really should be, I've told LOTS of people about it. I will be posting more pictures from it throughout the year that you can be sure!

Ouch!

OUCHIE!!! NO I didn't paint Maddie's skin with pink paint. That is a really, really, really bad sunburn! She went to the pool with some sweet friends and I think she learned her lesson the hard way about sunscreen and going out for the first time of the summer. Normally that wouldn't have happened to a dark, easy-to-tan girl like Maddie but she hadn't been out at all until this day, mostly because Nathan has been so sick. The sunburn is all better and she is getting her regular "summer tan" color this week since Nathan's on the up and up that's for sure! It gave her something to get attention about while Nathan was getting all the attention from everyone from his surgery (see post below.) That is a hard thing to give up when there are only two children in a family--that attention thing! Love you, Maddie Girl!
